Iowa receives commitments from highly-ranked Pennsylvania preps

IOWA CITY — Iowa wrestling received a boost to future recruiting classes.
Undefeated Pennsylvania state champions Spencer Lee and Gavin Teasdale announced via social media that they have committed to continue their wrestling careers at Iowa. According to InterMat, both are projected to be 125 or 133 pound wrestlers in college.
Lee, a three-time state champion for Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Penn., is the nation's top-ranked recruit in the 2017 class and rated No. 1 at 120 by InterMat. According to InterMat, Lee won a Cadet World title in 2014 and a Junior World crown in 2015,
Lee shared his decision on Twitter. He wrestled with current Hawkeye Michael Kemerer as a prep.
'After a long recruiting process I'm excited to say I will be joining my former FR teammate @Kem_Dawg65 at the University of Iowa,' Lee posted in reference to being on the same Franklin Regional team with Kemerer. 'Go Hawks!'

Teasdale, a two-time state champion at Jefferson-Morgan High School, is ranked first in the country at 113 pounds by InterMat. Teasdale is a two-time U.S. Cadet World Team members, winning national freestyle championships the last two years.

California state champ Justin Mejia, ranked second by InterMat at 120 and member of the 2017 class, also committed to wrestle at Iowa. Illinois state champion Jason Renteria, ranked fifth at 120, is another junior commit to the Hawkeyes. InterMat also lists Luke Troy, a junior at Martin Luther King High School in California as an Iowa commit. Troy is ranked 12th at 152.
