City Assessor to distribute 2012 assessment notices Friday

The Cedar Rapids City Assessor will mail assessment notices Friday, March 30, 2012.

Assessment notices are being distributed to properties whose assessments have changed since the January 1, 2011 assessment. Regardless of whether you receive an assessment notice or not, the assessor's office recommends that you review your property assessment history and property descriptors on our website.

The assessor's web site at www.cedar-rapids-assessor.org will be updated the evening of March 30, 2012 with new assessments as well as updated property descriptors.

The notices represent the January 1, 2012 assessment and will be the basis of the taxes payable July – September 2013 (first half) and January – March 2014 (second half).

Property owners that are not satisfied with the January 1, 2012 assessment may file a petition with the Cedar Rapids Board of Review between April 16, 2012 and May 7, 2012. Petitions filed by mail with a US Postal mark through May 7 will be considered timely filed. Petition forms are now available at the City Assessor Office, on the website, or the Iowa Department of Revenues website www.iowa.gov/tax/locgov/iowa-property-tax.html.
