Foarde, Joseph E.
Joseph E. Foarde, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Entombment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Francis (Christy) Foarde, Lori (Greg) Bredl and David (Peggy) Foarde, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Amy (Jim) Westphal, Megan Williams, Alex and Adam, Matt, Joe, Sean and Marin and Mckenna, Jack and Sam; and great-grandchildren, Jaymeson and Kamryn.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; mother, Leona Patnode; sister, Elizabeth Foarde; daughter, Martha Williams; and sons, Alan and William Foarde.
Joseph was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Prairieburg, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Joseph married Lois Leonard in Anamosa, Iowa, on July 20, 1954. She died in 1996. He worked for Iowa Manufacturing and then Linn County.
Joe was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing cards and most of all spending time with his family and friends, especially the extended Leonard family.
He was a special Dad and Grandpa and will be greatly missed.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff and nurses at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown for taking such wonderful care of our father these last five years.
