Bradke, Mildred Dorothy
Mildred Dorothy Bradke, 96, a resident of Garnett Place in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Central City, died at Garnett Place Saturday, March 12, 2011. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Central City United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Nick Needham. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include two children, Karen (Daniel) Trimble of Marion and Bette (Alan) McClenathan of Guernsey; five granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in by death her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Mildred was born Feb. 17, 1915, in rural Delaware County, the daughter of Arthur A. and Loie E. (Thomas) Wagner. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1933. On July 14, 1937, Mildred was united in marriage to Ernest D. Bradke in Hopkinton, and they made their home in Ryan. In 1954, they moved to Central City, where she was involved in the operation of the E & M Garage with her husband, Ernie. She worked at the Lindale Mall Swiss Colony for several years.
Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church Women, (WSCS president), Sunday school superintendent, and was active in the church circles. In the early 1990s, she moved to Marion, residing at Hilltop Manor, and for the last two years, made her home at Garnett Place.
Memorials may be directed to the Central City United Methodist Church in Mildred's memory.
