Denton, Ann I.
Ann I. Denton, 86, of Brandon, died Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2011, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday.
Ann was born March 2, 1925, near Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Erwin J. and Dorothy (Mills) Buess. She attended Coggon schools through 11th grade and graduated from Roosevelt High School, Cedar Rapids, in 1943, and then became employed with the Linn County Auditor's Office in Cedar Rapids. On Aug. 10, 1947, she was married to Grover G. Denton in Cedar Rapids. The couple made their home in Marion before moving to Manchester in 1960. In 1967, the family moved to Monticello, living there until moving to Brandon in 1972 and founding the Denton Castings Co.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Grover “Mike” Denton; three children, Pat (Dave) Heusmann, Mount Pleasant, Mike (Deb) Denton, Independence, and Tom Denton, Brandon; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Genevieve Taylor.
The Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, is in charge of arrangements.
