Warne, Matthew Gregory McLane
Matthew Gregory McLane Warne, 31, of Corona, Calif., formerly of Mount Vernon, died Oct. 13, 2012, in Riverside, Calif. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Center For Spiritual Living in Riverside, Calif. A second service will be held at the Center For Spiritual Living at his mother's residence in Boise, Idaho at a later date.
Survivors include his mother, Janet Tiya Joice; a brother, Robb Joice; and aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents in California.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Scott Warne.
Matthew was born Aug. 1, 1981, in Newport Beach, Calif., and moved to Iowa with his mother and brother in 1985. He attended Mount Vernon Middle School and High School, graduating from high school in 1999. Matthew played basketball and football in school, but mostly loved to snowboard, skateboard and run. He attended Kirkwood Community College in Iowa and Riverside Community College in California, majoring in horticulture.
In Iowa, Matt grew up on the farm, riding his ponies, organic gardening, having all of his friends over for paintball games and campfire nights. He spent his summers in California with his father, Greg Warne, and aunts, cousins, and grandparents, who were all so important to him.
He joined the Army in October 2003 for a short term in 101st Airborne. Upon his honorable discharge, he traveled between Iowa and California, and has been living in California since 2007.
