James William Prybil was born Nov. 10, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of Carl E. and Patricia (Erusha) Prybil. He grew up in the Oxford/Riverside area. He graduated from Highland High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country during the Vietnam War. He worked for over 23 years for the Iowa Department of Transportation at Oakdale before his retirement.
Jim enjoyed many things in his life and loved to tinker with anything mechanical, cars, trucks, tractors. He enjoyed working outside in his garden and yard. He loved to cook for family and friends, take his Goldwing motorcycle for rides and jump in his Jeep for a short trip to Wisconsin for whatever was in season. He could wheel and deal with the best of them, but most dear to his heart was his family, especially his grandchildren!
His family includes his two children and their spouses, Dawn and Mitchell Brandt of West Branch and Wes and Shelly Prybil of Solon; four grandchildren, Cody and Marissa Brandt and Josh and Allison Prybil; Jim's mother, Patricia Prybil of Riverside; brothers, Don Prybil, Tom Prybil (Pat) and Steve Prybil (Kerry), all of Riverside; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Alice Kyle of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; and brothers, Gerald and Carl Jr.
