Jefferson High School staff members receive state honors

Scott Kibby, Activities Director at Jefferson High School, has been chosen to receive the 2010 Iowa Bandmasters Association Outstanding Administrator Award. Each year, the IBA recognizes one middle school principal, one high school principal and one superintendent as a model administrator for the State of Iowa. Kibby was chosen based on his support for the Jefferson “Band of Blue” and the music department. He will be recognized Friday, May 14 in Des Moines. Kibby is a 24-year educator and has worked in the District for 19 years. He previously served as a mathematics teacher.
Traci Maxted, science teacher at Jefferson High School, has been selected by the Iowa Academy of Science (IAS) as the 2010 Excellence in Science Teaching Award (ESTA) recipient for high school physical science. Annual awards are also given in the categories of life science, earth science, middle school/junior high science and elementary science. Maxted will be honored at the Annual IAS Meeting on April 17 at Graceland University in Lamoni. Maxted has taught at Jefferson for 17 years.
