Janet K. Noethe, 75, of Waterloo, formerly of Center Point, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Janet is survived by her children, Sandra (Kevin) Robinson of Dunkerton, Jean (Don) Shirk of Waterloo, James U. (Traci) Noethe of Cedar Rapids and James G. "George" (Joni) Noethe of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce Streeter, Charles Brown, Ronald Brown and Bertha Pyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James, in 2014; son, Scott Noethe: two brothers, Albert and Tom Brown; and sister, Sharon Cole.
Janet was born July 17, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter of Lyle and Ada (Price) Brown. She was married to James Noethe on June 7, 1961, at Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Together they farmed in Hartley, Iowa, and later moved to Cedar Rapids. Janet worked for Heinz soup company until her retirement. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids.
