Negus, Michael J.
Michael J. Negus, 54, of Castle Rock, Colo., formerly of Iowa City, ended his life Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. Funeral Services to celebrate Michael's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sam Massey officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Friends of the Animal Center.
Michael was born Sept. 2, 1959, in Iowa City, the son of Lewis and Lorna Anderson Negus. He was a 1977 graduate of City High School and received his bachelor's degree from UNI. Michael received his master's degree in sports medicine from Texas Tech. He had lived in the Denver area for many years.
Michael loved to camp, fish, garden and spend time with his beloved Siberian huskies, Ditka and Ozzie.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria; his daughter, Taylor; and son Donnie; his mother, Lorna of Iowa City; his siblings, Marc (Shirl) Negus of Vail, Ariz., Ted Negus of Fort Lauderdale, Laurie (Tom) Kriz of Grand Marais, Minn., and Gordy Negus of Forestell, Mo.; his aunts, Loretta Patterson, Beverly Negus Moffitt and Marie Anderson; and nieces and nephews, Jeff, Jeremy, Tim, Sam, Brett, Andy, Palmer, Zoey, Campbell, Phoebe and Jorie; and numerous extended family and friends.
He will be greatly missed but he has found peace.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Lewis; and his grandparents, Joseph and Opal Negus and Marguerite Anderson.
