Holst, Ruth
Ruth Holst, 94, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Park View Manor Care Center, Reinbeck, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Onslow Presbyterian Church, with interment in the Wyoming Cemetery. Pastor Mike Campbell will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Surviving are four daughters-in-law, Kathy Holst, Reinbeck, Bonnie Holst Cummings and husband Bill Cummings, Center Junction, Lorrie Holst, Greensburg, Pa. and Nancy Holst, Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin in 1994; three sons, Robert, John and Gary; and her brother, Harlen.
Ruth married Marvin Holst on Sept. 14, 1940, at St. Paul Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed the Holst family farm near Center Junction where they raised their three sons. Ruth continued to live on the farm following Marvin's death until 2008 when she moved to Westview Independent Living in Reinbeck. She had been at Parkview Manor Care Center for the past month.
Before her move to the farm, Ruth was a registered nurse. She was a member of the Onslow Presbyterian Church, Onslow Christian Service Guild and the Altrurian Study Club for over 50 years. She was a woman of deep faith. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. Her welcome mat was always out.
