Road woes go on forever for Hawkeyes

Feb. 5, 2013 3:50 pm
For the Iowa men's basketball team, Saturday was another day on the road in the Big Ten, another lump on the head.
The Hawkeyes' 64-60 loss at Nebraska was brutal, to say the least. You don't blow a 19-point lead against a mediocre opponent. But they did.
That defeat dropped Iowa to 2-5 in Big Ten road games this season with trips remaining to Wisconsin Wednesday night, then Penn State, Nebraska and Indiana. Everyone who sees a sweep of those four coming, stand on your head.
It's been a long time since Iowa was a good road team. While the Hawkeyes were 11-5 in the Big Ten in 2005-2006, they were only 3-5 on the road. That, and last season's team, were the only Iowa clubs to win as many as three conference road games since 2003-2004, when the team went 4-4 on the road. The last Iowa club to have a winning Big Ten road mark was the 1997-1998 Hawkeyes, who were 5-3.
Here are Iowa's Big Ten road records since 1997-1998:
2012-2013: 2-6
2011-2012: 3-6
2010-2011: 1-8
2009-2010: 1-8
1008-2009: 0-9
2007-2008: 2-7
2006-2007: 2-6
2005-2006: 3-5
2004-2005: 2-6
2003-2004: 4-4
2002-2003: 3-5
2001-2002: 0-8
2000-2001: 3-5
1999-2000: 2-6
1998-1999: 4-4
1997-1998: 5-3
How can you not like the Highwaymen?
