Butterfield, Donald C.
Donald C. Butterfield, 78, of 205 S. Booth St., Anamosa, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Keri (Dan) Oleksuk of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; two sons, Brett (Lex) and Lane (Julie), both of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Edwin of Anamosa; two sisters, Marjory (Bob) Fairley of Olin and Patricia (Jim) Mettler of Anamosa; and four grandchildren, Megan and Cameron Butterfield and Emily and Taylor Oleksuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara; and a grandchild, Raelyn.
Don was born Jan. 31, 1934, in Anamosa, the son of Kenneth and Anna Kula Butterfield. He married Sharon R. Hamad on May 22, 1965, in Cedar Rapids. Don was the office manager at John Hancock Insurance Co. and retied from there after 30 years of service.
Don was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and proudly served in the Navy. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and especially the time he spent with his friends and beloved family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous.
