Tetrick, Karen Sue
Karen Sue Tetrick, 42, of Marion, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Karen Young. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held today from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; son, Alex, at home; her mother, Elizabeth Jones of Romney, Ind.; a brother, Carl (Linda) Jones of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a sister, Sheri Butler of Waynetown, Ind.; and brother-in-law, Allen (Tonya) Tetrick of Springdale, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul.
Karen was born Aug. 12, 1967, in Lafayette, Ind., to Paul and Elizabeth Jones. She graduated from McCutchen High School in Tippecanoe County, Ind., in 1985 and then in 1989, from Purdue University, with a degree in chemistry, where she met her future husband, Jim. They were married Nov. 7, 1992, in Romney, Ind. She was employed by Rockwell-Collins Child Development Center since 1995. Karen was a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church and was on the Open Door Worship Design Team to develop a contemporary worship service. Karen loved working with children but her biggest love was her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Hospice House of Mercy.
