Richard L. Orend, 67, a resident of Willow Gardens died there Monday, April 14, 2014, after a short illness. Services at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a brother, Robert of Marion; and two sisters, Frances (Bill) Bergum of Billings, Mont., and Barbara (John Papp) Orend of Clive.
He is also survived by four nieces, Cassandra, Cecelia, Candida and Cornelia; and three nephews, Bobby, Derek and Trevor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard was born May 6, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lester and Libby Syrovy Orend. He worked at Options of Iowa for over 15 years and was a former Boy Scout. Richard enjoyed camping, fishing, playing the guitar and drums and time spent with his friends and family.
A memorial fund has been established in Richard's name.
