Lockeby, Bobby R.
Bobby R. Lockeby, 77, of Iowa City, formerly of Solon, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A gathering and reception for family and friends is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Primitive Camp Ground in Lake Macbride State Park. The camp ground can be accessed by Cottage Reserve Road, off Mehaffey Bridge Road. Attendees are asked to bring camper chairs, potluck dish and any photos they may have to share.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bobby Lockeby Memorial Fund.

Bobby Ray Lockeby was born July 1, 1935, son of Harry and Estalee (Wood) Lockeby, in Bluford, Ill. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, he served during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Bobby's vocations and interests included but were not limited to plant manager for Bertwell Industries, professional square dance caller, small business owner, wood worker and avid fisherman. Iowa City residents knew him best as a dedicated and compassionate, ordained Free Methodist pastor, where he served for eight years. A friend to all, Bobby considered his greatest achievements to be his service to the Lord.
Bobby is survived by Chris Lockeby, his wife of 35 years; son, Bobby L. Lockeby (wife Dee Dee) of Arkansas; grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas; daughter, Peggy Jaynes (husband John) of Oregon; sister-in-law Brenda Walls and was a surrogate father to his nephew, Jesse Walls (fiancee Lesley) of St. Louis, Mo.
