Kempf, Mary Frances
Mary Frances Kempf, 91, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Atrium Village in Hills, following a lengthy illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Church.
Mary Frances was born Nov. 20, 1920, in rural Crawfordsville, Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Cora Ruebsam McCoy. She served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mary was united in marriage to Lester Kempf on Nov. 13, 1952, at St. James Church in Washington.
Mary Frances was employed for many years by area businesses as an office manager. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and was a 4H volunteer for over 45 years.
Mary Frances is survived by her loving husband, Lester; and their three children, John (Carol) Kempf of Fairfield, Robert (Joan) Kempf of Solon, and Margo Kempf of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Christine, Aaron, Matthew, Nahida and Bobbie; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Cleo Robert (Betty) McCoy of Washington, Iowa.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
