Man in surgical mask robs Cedar Rapids bank
May. 27, 2011 8:00 am
CEDAR RAPIDS – A man wearing a white surgical make took an undisclosed amount of cash from Hills Bank and Trust, 3905 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, on Friday.
At about 5:00 p.m., the man, dressed in jeans and a beige coat, walked into the bank unarmed and demanded money before heading east on foot. While fleeing, a beige baseball cap fell off his head, revealing dark hair that was balding at the crown, said Sgt. Cristy Hamblin.
None of the handful of employees inside of the bank were hurt, she said.
A camera at a nearby convenience store captured a photo of the man without the mask - just minutes before the robbery. He is described as white and about six feet tall.
Those with information about the robbery are asked to call the Cedar Rapids Police Department at 319-286-5495. They can also report tips anonymously by calling Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463).
