Live blog: Iowa men win 1st for Fran

Iowa's men's basketball team won its first game under new Coach Fran McCaffery 68-40 tonight at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Zach McCabe scored 12 points. Melsahn Basabe had 11 rebounds.

Iowa appears likely to win its first game under new coach Fran McCaffery. The Hawkeyes lead 53-31 with 7:36 left in the game.
Iowa steadily increased its lead from eight points in the first half to as many as 25 points. Iowa does have 21 turnovers, while L-M has 22.

Iowa and Louisiana-Monroe have combined for 25 turnovers, but the Hawkeyes have taken a 29-18 halftime lead at Carver-Hawkeye Arena tonight.
The Hawkeyes (0-1) bolted to a 13-2 lead with a pair of Zach McCabe 3-pointers. The Warhawks (0-1) trimmed it to 15-11 but Iowa extended it throughout the half. Eric May hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left ot provide the halftime margin.
Jordan Stoermer leads Iowa with seven points, while May has five points and six rebounds. Tommie Sykes leads Louisiana-Monroe with 10 points.
Nine different players had turnovers for Iowa in the first half.
