Charlene Ann Stallman, 73, of Fairfax, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, April 4, 2014.
Charlene was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Lansing, Iowa, the daughter of Irvin and Pearl (Hurley) Rettinger. She graduated from St. George Catholic High School. On Sept. 16, 1961, she married William "Bill" Stallman at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fairfax. She was employed at Square D in Cedar Rapids until she became a full-time homemaker when her family began to grow.
She enjoyed crafting, puzzles, collecting cookbooks and spending time with her family and friends.
Her bright eyes and beautiful smile brought joy to everyone who met her.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; children, Linda (Cliff) Lough of Fairfax, Tom Stallman of Norway, Karen Stallman (Dion Daubenmier) of Cedar Rapids and Ann (Mark) Frese of Norway.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kyle (Diana) Stallman, Megan Stallman, Alyssa and Jared Frese; as well as two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Savannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Kathy, Lori and Billy; brothers, Joe, Don and Harold Weber; and sisters, Mary Alice Van-Brocklin and Margaret Spurgeon.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax, with the Rev. Dustin Vu officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, rural Fairfax. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel in Cedar Rapids, where a rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m., and from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Fairfax Fire Department.
