Mease, Betty J.
Betty J. Mease, 81, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, with Father Brian Dellaert as celebrant. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.
Betty was born June 28, 1930, in Evanston, Ill., to Giuseppe and Mary (McNew) Campagna. On July 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to James W. “Jim” Mease in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2008.
Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne, the American Legion Auxiliary and The Red Hats Society. She owned and operated the Bowling Alley Café in Van Horne. Betty served on Van Horne's Senior Living Apartments board and was a volunteer at the Marshalltown Veterans Home.
She is survived by her sons, David (Joleen) Mease of Charlotte, N.C., and James A. (Sue) Mease of Waterloo; her daughter, Dianna (Redbone) Wilkinson of Brandon; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two sisters, Mary Austin and Jeri Bellos.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, two great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.
A memorial fund has been established.
