Non-profit provides flags on holidays

This Memorial Day, did you notice all the beautiful American flags flying in front of homes along Cedar Rapids' streets? A large number of these flags were part of “The Avenue of The Flags,” a service project of the non-profit Optimist Club of Cedar Rapids.
On each of the five patriotic American holidays, club members provide a large American flag with pole, install it in front of the home early on the holiday morning, and remove the flag and pole in early evening of the holiday, all for a nominal fee that is used to support the Optimist Club's programs for the youth of Cedar Rapids. Any homeowner wanting this service should contact Jim Burrows, Optimist Club president, at (319) 366-6719, or Terry Ebaugh, project chairman, at (319) 395-0035.
