Laura Christine Stevens, 62, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. A public visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 9 a.m. Friday, April 30,
at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories
with Pastor Nate Roeder officiating. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the chapel at one time. The
use of face masks or shields is required. Interment at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Laura was born Jan. 19, 1959, in Burlington, Iowa. She was the youngest of four children of the late Ralph Emerson and Margaret Alberta (Keefer) Goodnow. She was strong in her faith. Laura enjoyed shopping, reading and spending time with her family. Laura's favorite holiday was Christmas, where she went all out for every year. Laura loved watching old TV shows especially "I Love Lucy." Laura was the self-proclaimed office manager of her son's chiropractic office.
Those left to cherish Laura's memory are her children, Joe (Katie) Stevens of Cedar Rapids and Stephanie (Justin) Stafford of Owatonna, Minn.; her grandchildren, Kenneth Stafford, Hope Stevens, Henry Stafford, and one on the way; siblings, Steve Goodnow of Michigan, Barbara Goodnow of North Carolina and Janelle Johnston of Iowa; and her beloved dog, Shadow.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Mercy Medical Center for all of the love, support and care they showed Laura and her family while she was in their care.
