Letter: Vernon will help Cedar Rapids grow

I met Monica Vernon several years ago, when she was a successful entrepreneur, developing her marketing company. Her skills and insights helped organizations improve. I was excited when she transferred these abilities to City Council. We benefited greatly during her eight years of council service.

She demonstrated ability to work with individuals, groups, neighborhoods and businesses. She understands funding complexities, the power of leverage, and budget challenges. She also understands the importance of safety, recreation, streets and infrastructure.

I appreciate fresh faces and new ideas in our government, but at the mayoral level we need Vernon's experience. We also need full-time commitment to this demanding position.
