Column ignored reality of illegal immigration
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The Aug. 7 article by Froma Harrop titled “The real illegal immigration story behind rhetoric” was good except for one small flaw. There was no truth in what she says.
She said the administration is enforcing the immigration laws already on the books. Tell this to the sheriffs in Arizona and see if they agree. Tell this to families of the ranchers murdered by illegal immigrants. Explain this to the folks who observe the lawlessness of sanctuary cities; look at the pictures of the dead on the border trails. Speak to the folks who legally live in this country whose jobs were taken over by illegal immigrants through greedy employers like Agriprocessors.
Froma ignores the majority of citizens who are frustrated and angry at the cost and crime associated with illegal immigration.
The political half-truths and blatant lying coupled with absolute political party loyalty in our media is destroying our traditional culture.
