Alexander, John Raymond
John Raymond Alexander, 71, of Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Sunday, March 25, 2012, after a short fight with cancer at Carleton Place Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in the chapel of Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Ave., Carleton Place, Ontario.
He was a loving father to three daughters, Christina (Brant Rogers), Amanda and Jaclyn; and grandfather to Braiden Rogers.
John, son of the late George and Martha (Peterson) Alexander, was born June 26, 1940, and was raised in Cedar Rapids, where he graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1958. John became an electrical engineering technologist, coming to Canada to work with PanAm at its research facilities in Churchill, Manitoba in the early 1960s. He served in the U.S. Army. Later he settled in the Ottawa Region where he worked for various companies and raised his family. He was formerly married to Heather Lovette and later to Bonnie Garland, the mother of his children. He has been close to his family in Cedar Rapids, especially his cousin, Shirley Budreau, who has always been there for him.
He will be fondly missed by his family and friends.
