Teggatz, Gordon Edwin
Gordon Edwin Teggatz, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital following a courageous 10-year battle with colon cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Brenda Peconge. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and again after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Marsha (Tom) LoFaro of St. Peter, Minn.; son, Jason of Cedar Rapids; mother, Lorena Teggatz of Amana; brother, Eugene (Sandra) Teggatz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five sisters, LaVera Vernon of Olin, JoAnn (Bob) Heathman of Cedar Rapids, Myrna Teggatz of Decatur, Ill., Bonita (Gary) LeFebure of Fairfax and Bonnie Teggatz of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Marie Teggatz of Latimer; three grandchildren, Dillon, Francesca and Anna LoFaro; and many nieces, nephews, friends and former customers.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Orville; brother, Leonard; and brother-in-law, Lyle Vernon.
Gordon was born May 14, 1941, in Williamsburg, the son of Orville and Lorena (Collingwood) Teggatz. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1959. Gordon married Ruth Bente on Oct. 6, 1962, in Elkader. He owned and operated the College Sinclair service station for 29 years. Gordon was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge.
Gordon enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, camping and bicycling.
Gordon's family would like to thank Dr. Martin Wiesenfeld and Lisa Shaffer ARNP and the staff at Oncology Associates for all of their wonderful care.
