Corbett, Duffy, Karr: Strong council leaders
The Gazette Opinion Staff

June 2008 changed our city forever. As a flood survivor, I have attended most all city council meetings since.
It has provided me a window to see what is going on within our city government. As a council, they are not following the city charter the residents passed for the new form of government. They are not leading. Often information does not get dispersed to all council members. Too much power has been relinquished to the city manager.
We need to gain back strong leadership on our council. I recommend three strong leaders.
Ron Corbett for mayor. He is strong enough to put the elected council back in charge.
Nick Duffy running at large. Duffy is capable, smart and will work hard for his hometown. I know because he is my grandson.
Also, Don Karr for the other at-large seat. Karr has good sense and a lot of experience to help this city.
With hundreds of millions of dollars coming in over the next four years, we need capable individuals to make wise decisions.
This may just be the most important election our city will ever have. I urge all residents to vote. So many lives depend on the people taking charge of their city.
