OK, here we go.
- Defensive end Drew Ott (dislocated elbow) and running back LeShun Daniels (bruised ankle) have been cleared medically, according to Iowa radio play-by-play dude Gary Dolphin.
No, that doesn't mean they are playing, just that it's OK with doctors if they do. Dolph said they'll be gauged as they warm up and then we'll see.
Daniels, who left last week's game in the second quarter, is out on the turf know and doing some cutting. He looks good to go. It was his right ankle. I think he plays.
No sign of Ott yet. He did post of gruesome picture on his Instagram of his left elbow going the wrong way in the first quarter of the win over ISU (it was the big fumble pile).
Lots of noise that Ott will play.
- TE George Kittle said he wanted to play this week. He suffered a knee injury in week 1 and saw very limited action at Iowa State. He's out on the field and is wearing an O-lineman brace on his right knee. I think he's OK, but again, we'll see.
- One to watch out for: HawkeyeReport.com is reporting Marshall Koehn suffered a leg strain late last week (not on the fake FG). He might see less duty tonight. You might see redshirt freshman Miguel Recinos.
Specialists aren't out yet, but keep an eye out.
- This is the 30th anniversary for ANF and so the school is handing out a rally towel with 'ANF” and the No. 30 on it . . .
. . . Well, Brett Greenwood is No. 30. Maybe not a conscious move, but a helluva lot smarter than red pom poms.
- Watched Koehn in warmups. Noticed his made a 55-yarder rather easily. So, maybe he's good.
- TE Jake Duzey is dressed tonight. He was slated for a late September return, but . . . who knows. He suffered a torn patellar tendon on practice 14 of 15 this spring and has been out since.
- Lastest on Iowa's injured duo from Iowa radio: Ott not 100 percent, but going to see about how effective he can be. Remains a gametime decision. Most likely senior Jordan Canzeri starting at RB. Kittle practiced this week and is a go.
Both are dressed. Ott's left elbow is heavily braced, as you might imagine.
- Freshman WR Jerminc Smith is back in a No. 9 jersey.
- Right now, junior DT Faith Ekakitie is getting reps with Jaleel Johnson, who left with a minor injury late last week. I talked to Johnson this week and he said he was OK.
- Ott just repped in pass rush. He ran with the No. 1s in warmups.
- Daniels ran with the No. 1s in warmups.
- Kittle ran with the No. 1s in warmups.
- So, Iowa just showed a hand.
- Sophomore RB Derrick Mitchell warmed up and I think he's in the plans. He took a few reps with the 1s and was with the 2s in team period in warmups.
- So, there are some mysteries.
- I'm posting this now so you can set up the TV and see one of your more inspirational moments you might see in Kinnick Stadium.
Brett Greenwood is back. You've seen some of the tweets from fellow former Hawkeye and fellow Bettendorf native Pat Angerer. He's worked his tail off to get here, grinding for five months.
This has been a moment four years and a miracle in the making. I'm moving aside and giving Brett Greenwood the floor.
