Cutting torch sparks fire at Mount Vernon auto shop
N/A
Mar. 16, 2010 11:30 am
Some auto salvage work at a shop along the Cedar River near Mount Vernon got a little hot to handle this morning.
Workers at Cedar River Auto and Cycle were using a cutting torch to remove a cab from a pickup. Volunteer firefighters say some fuel was apparently left in the engine and the torch set the truck on fire.
The truck in the front yard of the shop was a total loss, but no other vehicles burned.
Firefighters were on the scene for about a half hour.
