Government worse than televangelists
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 16, 2011 10:14 am
In response to Chuck Grassley's inquiry of the televangelists' personal use of church -owned airplanes, luxury homes and credit cards: I find this a bit amusing. Members of Congress do the same thing.
For example, this past summer, Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa and other members of Congress flew to an air show in London. This was a time of high unemployment, and the nation being in dire straits. Wasn't this aboard government airplanes, at our expense?
If it doesn't violate Sen. Grassley's separation of church and state, I challenge him to use the Bible concordance and look up the words riches and wealth. God blesses his people with these gifts. Supporters of these televangelists give a freewill offering, unlike the government, which forces us to pay for questionable expenses and government policies. The senator's inquiry is nothing more than Christian bashing and a diversion of real issues in our government.
Ever since the removal of prayer in school, the removal of the Ten Commandments and the so-called separation of church and state, right up to the Hate Crimes Act, signed by President Obama, Christianity has been under attack.
I recommend that the senator investigate the White House and the corruption that dominates this very government.
God is a respecter of no person, Acts 10:34. God will judge His people at a higher standard. May I remind you of Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Baker and Ted Haggard?
