The Kernels won the opener 7-3 on Friday night. This game was completed after rain suspended Thursday's game after 8 innings.

The team then dropped the second game 8-2. The Kernels had a rough time swinging the bats, only getting 3 hit.

The games in Peoria are being played at O'Brien Field in downtown Peoria. This stadium is also the home of the Bradley University Braves baseabll team.

Kernels outfielder Ryan Jones is familiar with this stadium. Ryan played his college ball at Witchita State. He played many conference games at O'Brien Field.

Kernels centerfielder Travis Witherspoon and Peoria first baseman Richard Jones are from the same hometown of Sumter, SC. While they never played on the same high school team, they did play together on an American Legion baseball team. Sumter, SC is a city of just over 100,000 people.
