Florence Agnes Baker, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Celebration of Life services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Inurnment will be in Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria, Ill. Visitation will be one hour before services Saturday at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre.
Florence was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Archie and Violet (Bray) Dearman. Florence served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a nurse. Then she worked at Peoria Methodist Hospital for many years. Florence was united in marriage to James Baker in 1966. She enjoyed dancing, arts and crafts, fishing and spending time with her friends and family.
Florence is survived by her son, Ronald Towne of Gordo, Ala.; four grandchildren, Mark Towne of Waterloo, Donna (Bobby) Brawner and Timothy Towne, both of Cedar Rapids, and Tom (Cheryl) Towne of Onalaska, Wis.; great-grandchildren Justin, Nathan, Brandon, Jennifer, Dennis, Kristi, Chaise, Kenneth, Timothy Jr., Wesley, Tommy, Caitlyn and Raiana; two great-great-grandchildren, Ashley and Sierra; and her two sisters, Patricia Eickles of Jamestown, Calif., and Ruth Lane of Windsor, Ill.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Harold, Edward, Willard and John Dearman; and her sister, Mildred Dearman.
