Slocum, Heidi L.
Heidi L. Slocum, 43, of 309 Orange St., Center Point, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include her husband, Nicholas; two daughters, Alicia of Dubuque and Hayley at home; her parents, Allen and Barbara Cox of Anamosa; grandmothers, Shirley Collins and Helen Hale, both of Marion; and a grandson, Colt Slocum.
Heidi was born March 6, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Allen and Barbara Collins Cox. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1986 and married Nicholas R. Slocum on Sept. 27, 2006, in Cedar Rapids. Heidi was the office manager at Back to Wellness for several years.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, the outdoors, camping, fishing, caring for her dogs and especially the time spent with her beloved family and many friends.
Heidi was a caring, wonderful wife, mother, daughter and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
