Cedar Rapids engineering firm names interim CEO

A 34-year employee of a Cedar Rapids engineering, technical and management services firm has been named interim chief executive officer.
Steve Heyer will helm HR Green, 8710 Earhart Lane SW, while the organization's board of directors begins its search for the company's next CEO. Heyer succeeds Michael Daniel, who had been CEO of HR Green since 2009.
Heyer has held key leadership positions throughout the company, most recently serving as president of its senior living business line and GCI Development.
Heyer has been involved with a wide array of project types throughout his tenure including airports, commercial buildings, correctional facilities, educational facilities, federal buildings, industrial buildings and structures, libraries, medical facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants, city halls and law enforcement facilities.
Dan McVay, HR Green chairman, said the board of directors was pleased that Heyer has agreed to serve as interim CEO, effective immediately.
"The board was most interested in appointing someone as CEO who can execute on the strategic plan seamlessly and fully support the existing business model," McVay said. "There was no question that Steve instilled a great sense of confidence in us as the strongest contender to lead on an interim basis."
McVay said Heyer was selected based on his seasoned leadership qualities, relationship with the company and its clients, and experience in the development and launch of prosperous business ventures for the company.
Founded in 1913, HR Green has offices throughout the United States. The provides services to clients involved with transportation, water, governmental services, senior living, and energy.
