Behounek, Ida
Ida Behounek, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at West Ridge Care Center. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church, by the Rev. John Flaherty. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends can visit with the family Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., and on Monday after 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Ida is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Beth (Steve) Hennessy of Cedar Rapids; son, Mark (Melinda) Behounek of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Morgan, Christopher and Colin Hennessy, Michael and Molly Behounek; brother, Bob (Dee) Naughton; sister, Noreen Richards; sister-in-law, Lee Naughton; many loving nieces and nephews; and very special friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Carroll, Bill, Ed and John.
Ida was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Cleophus and Ida (Carroll) Naughton. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1957. She married John Behounek on July 27, 1963, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked for Northwestern Bell and retired from AT&T.
Ida was not only a devoted wife and mother but she also gave a lot of her time and talents to All Saints Catholic Church through many organizations.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the West Ridge Care Center staff for their excellent loving care and to St. Luke's Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to the family.
A memorial fund has been established in Ida's memory.
