EDGAR HENRY CHRISTIAN HEITSHUSEN Williamsburg Edgar Henry Christian Heitshusen, son of Herman and Anna (Baack) Heitshusen, was born June 28, 1926. He received his education at Immanuel Lutheran School, near Williamsburg. He farmed with his father and brother, Walter, on the family farm. In addition to crop farming, they raised turkeys. In October 1950, he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He served as a replacement troop in Germany. After his discharge in October 1952, he was united in marriage to Alice Backes, on Nov. 22, 1952, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Keystone. They lived in a second house on the family farm for their entire married life until moving to Highland Ridge in August 2011. To this union two sons were born, Dean and Mark. Both sons are deceased. Edgar loved his farming and was a good steward of the land. He loved and served his Lord, serving as trustee for 12 years at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Edgar died Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years; his sisters, Ethel (Richard) Newkirk and Luella (Jim) Stone; sister-in-law, Doris Heitshusen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his two sons, Dean and Mark; his parents; four brothers, Erwin, Willard, Herbert and Walter; and three sisters-in-law, Medora, Milda and Esther. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. The Rev. Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
