CLARENCE - The seventh annual Mr. North Cedar contest had a new twist this year.
Mr. North Cedar was joined by Miss North Cedar.
This annual event, sponsored by the After Prom committee, raises money for after prom activities and prizes. The contestants have three categories they participate in - formal wear, swim wear and talent. Seniors Martha Jesuit, Morgan Sander, Byron Boleyn and Logan Minar were the contestants.
During the week of Jan. 23 each contest had their jars set out in the office where students could place donations in a contestant's jar. On Jan. 27, during the home basketball game, the contestants competed in the three categories to win the coveted Mr. and Miss North Cedar contest.
The contestants dressed for each category and were judged by three judges.
Formal wear was first, Jesuit wore a stunning purple pantsuit. Sander wore a gorgeous purple dress and was escorted by her niece Layla Harkins. Boleyn wore a suit with a purple bow tie and Minar wore a beautiful black and pink dress. Swim wear was next and Jesuit wore a floral sun dress, Sander wore a mermaid skirt and shell bra, Boleyn a crop top and swimming trunks and was escorted by his little sister Journey, and swim outfit and did pushups.
Talent was last, Jesuit played the piano and sang 'Pretty Hurts” by Beyonce and finished with a song she wrote to ask other contestant Boleyn to prom. Sander juggled to her favorite song. Boleyn sang and played a ukulele, and Minar showed off his dunking skills.
After judging and receiving donations to each contestant the winners were announced - Sander and Boleyn became Mr. and Miss North Cedar.
