Obama, Kerry wrong on Ukraine intervention

Your article on Feb. 27 “Russian action would be a ‘grave mistake': U.S.” was very informative. However, I disagree with Secretary of State John Kerry when he warned the Russians that any military intervention in the Ukraine, including Crimea, would have grave consequences.
The Russians have the right to intervene in Crimea if the new Ukrainian leaders do not give these people their independence. The overwhelming majority of the population (60 percent) are Russians, and thousands of them just demonstrated for their independence.
These Russian Crimeans are freedom fighters and the Obama administration should support their aspirations for a free republic of Russia and not oppose them. I am usually an Obama supporter, but I believe he is wrong on this issue.
