The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation to Award $15,500 in Grants to Teachers
Applications for grants due September 9
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Aug. 21, 2011 – Area educators who bring learning to life with classroom projects, workshops and equipment are encouraged to apply to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation's Fund for Educational Excellence and the Marshall Journalism Fund Equipment Grant. The GCRCF will award $15,500 in grants from the two grant programs combined.
The Fund for Educational Excellence accepts proposals from individuals or teams of public school educators in Linn County and awards grants up to $3,000. Grants support hands-on, classroom or “real-world” field trip projects that bring learning to life and increase student academic achievement.
The Marshall Journalism Fund awards grants for up to $1,500 to journalism departments at public schools to purchase equipment, including software, for use with journalism programs.
The deadline for applications to be submitted is Sept. 9, 2011. Guidelines and applications may be found on the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation website at www.gcrcf.org.
