Mark Meier, a nationally renowned speaker on depression, made a stop at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids on Sat., July 16 as part of his ride across the U.S. to raise awareness about male depression.
Meier and a group of area bicyclists left Green Square Park in downtown Cedar Rapids Saturday morning for a 40-mile round trip ride to Palo and back, ending at Mercy Medical Center where Meier led a discussion on men and depression.
Meier talked openly about his own battle with depression. Speaking to a crowd of nearly 100 people he discussed the signs of depression, ways of coping, and resources that are available, both locally and nationally.
For every attendee at the seminar, Mercy donated $1 to the local Out of Darkness organization to help combat depression in our community.
Meier is the founder of the Face it Together Foundation. To find out more visit
