Drew Tate recovering from a dislocated shoulder
Mike Hlas Jul. 18, 2011 10:22 am
I was wondering why 3-year Iowa starting quarterback Drew Tate hadn't thrown a pass in the Calgary Stampeders' first three regular-season games this season.
Well, I wasn't really wondering. I simply saw something related to the Canadian Football League (or Canada itself) on the Web, and it made me think of Tate. So I looked up the Stampeders' stats.
Turns out, he dislocated his left shoulder in Calgary's final preseason game. Owie.
Tate spent two seasons (2007, 2008) on either the practice roster or injured reserve list with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is in his third season at Calgary, where he cemented his back-up role to Henry Burris by playing well in his opportunities, often in short-yardage situations.
Last season, Tate completed 44 of 62 passes for seven touchdowns and no interceptions. He rushed 36 times for 189 yards and five touchdowns.
