Mantor, Richard L. 'Dick'
Richard L. “Dick” Mantor, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a battle with cancer. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ivan Niehaus officiating. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his children, Jim (Misty) Mantor of Des Moines, and Lynn Mantor of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Phil) Buelow of Anamosa, Bill (Karen) Mantor of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Dick) Jones of Cedar Rapids, Don (Janet) Mantor of Cedar Rapids; four nieces; and three nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard L. Mantor was born Jan. 15, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Willard and Marcella (Hickey) Mantor. Dick worked as a custodial engineer at Westdale Mall for many years. He loved traveling with his son, Jim in his semi across the country until his health made it too difficult. He endured a brave fight with lung cancer for the last four months without a complaint. Dick was a loving son, father and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
A memorial fund has been established.
