Schade, Mervin J.
Mervin J. Schade, 74, of Rowley, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his son's home in Cedar Rapids after a long illness. Memorial services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include a son, Darryl of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Darlene Steinbach of Des Moines; brother, Herbert (Donna) of Walker; and three sisters, Agnes McManigle of Baraboo, Wis., Wilma Singer of Manchester and Dolores Bebensee of Pharr, Texas.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Deanna and Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Donald.
Mervin was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Stanley, the son of Gustave and Lillian Huge Schade. He married Leah Rae Nolan on June 4, 1960, in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced.
Mervin worked at Iowa Milling, later Cargill and retired from there after more than 44 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters union and proudly served in the Army. Mervin enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and being with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
