Urbanek, Michael W.
Michael W. Urbanek, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died at the Iowa City VA Health Care System Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Michael is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Jeff, Sandy (Steve) Freytag and Brian (Lisa); stepchildren, Tracey, Teresa, Deanna (Chad) and Bryan; one sister, two brothers, 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Michael was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, to Robert and Darlene Urbanek. He married Judy Vredenburg there on Aug. 17, 1997. Michael was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of both the American Legion and the VFW. He was a welder for Harnischfeger and Foundry Equipment.
