Thoennes, Richard Marion
Richard Marion Thoennes, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 23, 2012, following a short illness. A Celebration of Life will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday at Eastview Christian Church, 727 Collins Rd. NE, followed by a time of visitation until 7 p.m. Private inurnment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
He is survived by three children, Adam (Sherry) Thoennes of Keystone, Christy (Brian) Lewis of Papua, Indonesia and Sarah (Scott) Schloss of Cedar Rapids; former wife, Vicki Airy of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Brianna Scott, Brandon and Caleb Thoennes, Elisha and Josiah Lewis; sister, Rose Marie (Mike) Hall of Ocala, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Brad (Kathleen Uehling) Lint of Des Moines and Don Neudeck of Sacramento, Calif.; sister-in-law, Jane (Dan) Odem of Marengo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Eugene and David Thoennes; and three sisters, Betty Neudeck, Elaine Duffy and Janet McClean.
Richard was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Otto and Mae (Schueth) Thoennes. He served in the Army. Richard was a retail credit manager for many years, working at Killians, Sears, and the Pigeon Furniture Store.
Richard enjoyed fishing in Minnesota and spending time with his family.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
