Wortman, Louise
Louise Wortman, 90, of Marion, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids due to complications after abdominal surgery. Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion. Burial will follow at Wilcox Cemetery, Anamosa. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at funeral home.
Louise is survived by her children, Warren G. Wortman of Anamosa, Beth Wortman of Forest, Va., and Jay Wortman of Belgium; her grandchildren, Douglas Wortman (K.C.) of Anamosa, Julia (Joe) Fox of Waterloo, Shari (Kelly) O'Malley of Ely and Kathleen Wortman (Rahim) of Portland, Ore. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Enid Wortman of Spirit Lake; five great-grandchildren, Ben (Kate) Wilson, Sean Wortman, David Wortman, Cynthanee Heeren and Chazmond Heeren; three great-great-grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, and Naomi; three nephews; and by numerous dear friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marjorie; and her husband, Max G. Wortman.
Louise was born June 11, 1919, to Raymond and Helen Simpson of Mechanicsville. She worked for Rees Remley and Heiserman Law Firm in Anamosa until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1965, and was deputy clerk of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Cedar Rapids until her retirement. Louise was active in the Cedar Rapids chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals. She was a 50+ year member of Eastern Star.
Louise celebrated her 90th birthday in June by inviting her family to spend a weekend with her at a resort in Dubuque. She threw a grand party!
