Trumblee, Donna Mae Florence (Leas)
Donna Mae Florence (Leas) Trumblee, 87, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a short illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion where friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. The Rev. John Albertson will officiate. Inurnment in the Luana Cemetery at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, LaVon; daughter, Linda (Robert) VanWey of Marion; two sons, Jerry Leas (friend Conneye Dulin) and Steven (Denise) Leas of Cedar Rapids; two stepsons, Lonnie Trumblee of Council Bluffs and Steven (Maycale) Trumblee of Farmersburg; nine grandchildren, Brenda Strong, Brent (Christie) VanWey, James, Justin and Lindsey Leas, Janelle (Thad) Burton, Candace Schleur, David (Kristie) Trumblee and Danny (Angela) Trumblee; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren V. Leas; brother, Robert Krambeer; and a sister, Margaret Hangartner.
Donna was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Postville, the daughter of Benjamin and Rosena Eggert Krambeer.
After Loren's death in 1974, she married LaVon Trumblee on Oct. 29, 1977. Donna and Von enjoyed traveling and spent many years wintering in Arizona. One winter they were extras in the movie “Thunder Run” starring Forrest Tucker. They enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center in Marion and at Faith Lutheran Church where they were members.
“The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Mercy and the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha for their love and compassion given to Donna.”
A memorial fund has been established.
