Purdue reached an agreement with Western Kentucky's Jeff Brohm to become the Boilermakers' next head football coach, according to multiple reports Monday.
Brohm led Western Kentucky to back-to-back wins in the Conference USA championship game. The Hilltoppers finished 10-3 this season and accepted a bid to the Boca Raton Bowl on Sunday.
Brohm met with his Western Kentucky players and informed them Monday morning, according to Yahoo Sports. He met with Purdue officials Saturday night, Baylor officials Sunday and also received overtures from Cincinnati during a busy weekend.
Brohm received a six-year, $20 million deal, a source told ESPN.
The 45-year-old Brohm has been head coach at Western Kentucky since 2014, going 30-10 and 2-0 in bowl games. He replaced Bobby Petrino when he took the Louisville job.
Brohm succeeds Darrell Hazell, who was fired a day after Purdue's 49-35 loss to Iowa that dropped the Boilermakers to 3-3. Purdue went on to finish 3-9 for its fourth straight losing season, going 9-39 in that period. Hazell finished 9-33.
Brohm also was an assistant during Petrino's first stint at Louisville. Brohm's first game as Purdue coach will be against Petrino and Louisville in Indianapolis on Sept. 2, 2017. Iowa hosts Purdue on Nov. 18, 2017, the penultimate game of the regular season.
Defensive coordinator Nick Holt has been named interim coach at Western Kentucky, which faces Memphis in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 20.
