Hawkeyes get junior commitment from Minnesota
Jeff Linder Jan. 18, 2011 6:13 pm
IOWA CITY -- Kali Peschel, a 6-foot-1 junior guard from Sauk Centre, Minn., has given an oral commitment to play women's basketball at the University of Iowa, the St. Cloud (Minn.) Times reports.
She'll join the Hawkeyes in the 2012-13 season.
Peschel told The Times she had offers from at least 13 other Division I programs.
“I never really had a list,” Peschel said. “But Iowa was always at the top of the list.”
Peschel, a starter since eighth grade, averages about 22 points per game for Sauk Centre, which is 13-1 and ranked sixth in Minnesota's Class 2A.
Minnesota has been a fertile recruiting ground for the Iowa coaching staff. Four current Hawkeyes are native Minnesotans, as well as 2011-12 recruit Bethany Doolittle.
